OnePlus 6 Infinity War Edition Coming To The UK: Report

A special edition of the upcoming OnePlus 6 Android flagship meant to serve as official merchandise for Disney-owned Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War blockbuster will be released in the United Kingdom this spring, Deadline reports. The device is said to be advertised as the OnePlus 6 Infinity War Edition, thus following a similar naming scheme to the one used for the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition launched late last year. The special variant of the handset has already been prematurely teased by the Indian unit of the Chinese original equipment manufacturer, making it unclear whether the product is also intended to be released globally, which the latest report now seems to suggest.

Deadline's sources also claim that the OnePlus 6 Infinity War Edition will solely be available with the most premium memory configuration supported by the upcoming lineup, meaning it will feature 256GB of internal flash storage and 8GB of RAM. OnePlus previously said those specifications will be offered by the very top of its series but also confirmed the product line will include at least one more affordable model. The most accessible variant is still expected to sport 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, as was the case with the last two flagship releases from the Chinese OEM. The OnePlus 6 Infinity War Edition will hence mark the second cross-promotion collaboration between OnePlus and Disney following the aforementioned Star Wars-themed offering and should be advertised by both as the official merchandise of the upcoming Hollywood film that's set to hit the theaters on April 25.

The OnePlus 6 is widely expected to be officially announced by early next month and should begin retailing worldwide come mid-May, starting at approximately $550, depending on the market. It's presently unclear whether any money exchanged hands between OnePlus and Disney as part of the new brand crossover and it also remains to be seen whether the limited edition of the OnePlus 6 will end up being announced alongside the main lineup in the coming weeks. The handset itself should feature a unique design and a special OxygenOS skin.
