OnePlus 6 Flagship Receives Mid-May Launch Date In India

After several rounds of teasing its upcoming flagship smartphone, OnePlus has now officially confirmed its launch date for India. The OnePlus 6 will be announced in the South Asian country on May 17, a day after its global debut in London. The event will be held at Dome (NSCI) in India and will kick off at 3 PM IST. OnePlus is hosting a separate launch event in China to announce the device at 10 AM CST on the same date. At the London event, the company is expected to detail the phone’s features and specifications, while the local happenings in India and China will provide availability and pricing details for their respective markets. OnePlus fans will need to purchase entry vouchers to attend the Mumbai event, which will be made available a week before the launch itself.

The Indian tickets can hence be purchased starting from 10 AM IST on May 8 for a price of Rs. 999 ($15). Each ticket holder will get a OnePlus voucher worth Rs. 999 along with a cash canon, tote bag, cap, T-shirt, and a notebook with OnePlus and Marvel branding. Some recent reports have suggested the device will go on sale on May 21, a few days after its announcement. This information was reportedly provided by OnePlus to a user selected to review the OnePlus 6 as part of the firm's The Lab program. The OnePlus 6 will be an Amazon exclusive in India, the Chinese OEM revealed earlier this month.

OnePlus has also confirmed a few details about its still-officially-unannounced smartphone, such as the presence of a display notch and a glass back panel. The handset has been confirmed to include Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 845 processor along with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash memory. A 6.28-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio is expected to be found on the phablet, probably featuring the same FHD+ resolution as its predecessors did. The Android phone has also been teased to have some sort of water resistance, a repositioned Alert Slider, and a dual-camera setup. The OnePlus 6 is said to be the company’s most expensive smartphone to date, with its base price allegedly being set to cross the $500 mark for the first time.
