Interested consumers may now pre-order the ASUS Chromebox 3 from a number of online retailers. The device was unveiled by the Taiwanese tech firm during CES 2018 last January, and it is the successor to the Chromebox 2. The online retailer TigerDirect currently offers four variants of the device for pre-order, and each variant differs primarily in terms of the chipset that powers the Chromebox. The cheapest variant available is powered by an Intel Celeron processor and it will cost consumers $249.99, while the model of the device that is equipped with an Intel Core i3 CPU ships with a price tag of $449.99. On the other hand, the model of the ASUS Chromebox 3 that is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor is priced at $501.99 and the variant of the Chromebox with an Intel Core i7 chipset comes with a price tag of $733.99. Aside from TigerDirect, interested consumers may also pre-order the device from the online retailer NextWarehouse. The website ChromeUnboxed noted that the ASUS Chromebox 3 is expected to become available within the next 2-3 weeks.
The listing of both retailers did not provide additional information regarding the specifications of ASUS Chromebox 3. However, the Taiwanese tech firm has already released details of the device's design and connectivity features during the product's launch. The tech firm noted that the ASUS Chromebox 3 will be equipped with eighth-generation Intel processors and DDR4-2400 RAM. The device also contains a variety of ports, including three USB Type-A ports, an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and a USB Type-C port. On the other hand, the front of the device includes two additional USB Type-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a slot for the SD card. The Taiwanese device maker also noted that the ASUS Chromebox 3 will include the Google Play Store and Android applications out-of-the-box.
Aside from ASUS, interested consumers may also choose among the new Chromebox offerings from Acer and HP. The Acer Chromebox CXI3 has already been available for pre-order within the last few weeks from a number of online retailers, and it was originally scheduled to be in stock by April 19. Meanwhile, HP's latest Chromebox product is expected to go on sale starting May 30.
