Samsung on Monday launched a new commercial that can be seen below and tries to sell you on the official cases for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus in 32 seconds. The series of accessories meant to protect the company’s latest Android flagships is largely identical to the one launched alongside the Galaxy S8 lineup, with one exception being the playful color variants of the new Hyperknit Cover cases. Just like in recent years, Samsung’s accessories are generally more expensive than most third-party ones you can purchase but they come with some additional features such as the ability to create custom LED notifications that can be displayed through all cover cases.
The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus officially released on a global level last Friday, with Samsung commercializing them in 70 countries. The Android flagship duo is set to debut in around 40 additional markets by the end of the month, the Seoul-based tech giant confirmed. Samsung has high expectations of the Galaxy S9 lineup that it already said should outsell its 2017 phablets, though the new products haven’t had the best start on that road, as indicated by the fact Samsung shared no details about their pre-order figures, a metric it usually boasts about with every new generation of Galaxy S-series handsets. Most industry watchers still agree the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will outperform all of their Android rivals commercialized in 2018.
The new devices offer a refined take on the Galaxy S8 formula, boasting the same 18.5:9 Infinity Display panels Samsung debuted last year, albeit with less aggressively curved edges meant to make them easier to hold without accidental touches. Most of the major annual improvements delivered by the Galaxy S9 lineup are on the inside, coming in the form of new chips, improved camera hardware, and extra RAM for the larger model. Samsung is expected to stick with a similar evolutionary design philosophy this summer when the company is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 9.
