Sharp AQUOS S3 Will Launch On March 28 With A Notch

Sharp has confirmed, via Weibo (Chinese social network), that the Sharp AQUOS S3 will be announced on March 28 in Vietnam. Now, this handset had been certified by TENAA (China's equivalent to the FCC) already, and the device was rumored to arrive back in January, but that did not happen. The image that Sharp shared on Weibo confirms that the device will sport a display notch, and considering that the phone's real-life images surfaced recently, we pretty much know what to expect.

The Sharp AQUOS S3 will sport really thin bezels, and a very thin 'chin' below the display. Its display notch will be larger than the one on the Vivo V9, it seems, and the device will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. You can also expect to see a dual camera setup on the back of the Sharp AQUOS S3, and those two cameras will be vertically-aligned on the back of the device. An LED flash will also be a part of the package, and the phone will be made out of metal and glass. The phone's display will sport rounded corners only in the upper portion, the lower-left and right sides of the display will not be rounded, at least if the leaked image is to be believed. Now, it is worth saying that the AQUOS S3 Mini launched a couple of days ago, and the AQUOS S3 will resemble that phone quite a bit. The AQUOS S3 Mini is, needless to say, inferior to the AQUOS S3, and it sports a single camera on the back. The AQUOS S3 Mini sports a rather small notch, an Essential PH-1-like notch, which suggests that it will be considerably smaller than the notch on the AQUOS S3.

The Sharp AQUOS S3 will be the smaller 6-inch smartphone out there, at least according to the company's exec, and if TENAA's info is to be believed, the phone will sport a 19:9 display aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 630 or 660 will fuel the AQUOS S3, while the device will ship in both 64GB and 128GB storage flavors. 13 and 12-megapixel snappers will be included on the back of the phone, while a single 16-megapixel camera will be placed on the front side of this smartphone. A 3,100mAh non-removable battery will also be a part of the package, while the device will ship with Android Nougat out of the box.
