Rugged OUKITEL WP5000 Put Through Drop, Hammer & Car Test

The OUKITEL WP5000 is one of the latest rugged phones to be announced following its launch at this year's MWC event in Barcelona. With this being a rugged phone, it is one which will be defined by how durable it is. As a means to highlight this point OUKITEL has now released a new video which sees the new phone undergoing various extreme durability tests.

In the video, the OUKITEL WP5000 is seen first undertaking a drop test. Although compared to a real-world setting where a user is most likely to drop a phone from waist-height of a table, the OUKITEL WP5000 is shown being dropped from a significantly greater height. This is then followed by the WP5000 shown being beaten with a hammer before the WP5000 gets repeatedly run over by a car. As is probably to be expected the WP5000 is then shown in a fully functional and working condition after each of these extreme encounters.

As for the phone, its durability comes courtesy of its molded body which is not only impact-proof but also waterproof thanks to its IP68 certification. The display on offer comes in at 5.7-inches and in spite of its rugged design, it does make use of the popular 18:9 aspect ratio. Resulting in a device that is slimmer and taller than what it would be otherwise. Inside, the OUKITEL WP5000 features 6GB RAM, 64GB storage, and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 SoC. Another popular design trait - dual cameras - is also included with the primary camera being a 16-megapixel camera, backed up by a 5-megapixel secondary camera. Also on offer is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 5,200 mAh battery. In terms of the price and availability, the OUKITEL WP5000 is expected to become available to buy before the end of the month and will be priced at $299.99. As part of the launch period, however, OUKITEL is offering interested consumers the option to subscribe for more information and by doing so those subscribers will gain a coupon that will take $40 off the pre-order price. In addition to the opportunity to win one of two OUKITEL WP5000 smartphones for free.
