Meizu has just announced a new smartphone, the Meizu E3 (known as teh Meizu M6E internationally) that has been leaking for quite some time now. Having said that, the Meizu E3 is a mid-range smartphone which is made out of metal, and which sports a dual camera setup on its back. The company’s branding is also placed on the back of the phone, and the device is not exactly bezel-less, but its side bezels are quite thin, considerably thinner than its top and bottom bezels.
The power / lock key is placed on the right-hand side of the phone, and interestingly enough, it is red-colored. The volume up and volume down buttons sit on the left, and this handset probably utilizes Meizu’s ‘Halo Button’ that we’ve seen in the Meizu M6s, while it sports a side-facing fingerprint scanner, which is placed right below the phone’s power / lock key. The device’s dual cameras are vertically-aligned, and are placed in the upper-left corner of the phone’s back side. The Meizu E3 is fueled by the Snapdragon 636 64-bit octa-core SoC, one of Qualcomm’s newest mid-range chips, and one of its best mid-range processors at the same time. The device features a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it, while the device packs in 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB / 128GB of expandable internal storage. Android 7.1.2 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Meizu E3, while you will find Meizu’s Flyme OS 6.3 on top of it.
12-megapixel (1.4um pixel size, Sony’s IMX362 sensor, f/1.9 aperture) and 20-megapixel (Sony’s IMX350 sensor, f/2.6 aperture, 2.5x loss-less zoom) cameras are included on the back of this smartphone, while you will find an 8-megapixel snapper (f/2.0 aperture) on the phone’s back side. As you can see, Meizu has opted to combine a regular RGB lens with a telephoto lens on the back. A 3,360mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package, while the Meizu E3 comes in Black, Champagne Gold, and Blue color variants. The phone’s 64GB storage model is priced at 1,799 Yuan ($284), while its 128GB storage variant costs 1,999 Yuan ($315). The phone will become available for pre-order starting on March 26, while it will go on sale from March 31. It is worth noting that this smartphone will not be released on global basis, said Ard Boudeling, Meizu’s Head of Global Marketing. The company will focus on bringing the Meizu M6s to more markets instead.
