Vodafone UK has confirmed in a statement that Huawei will be announcing three smartphones – the P20 Pro, P20, and the P20 Lite – at an event scheduled for later this month. A spokesperson from Vodafone UK has stated that the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 lite and Huawei P20 Pro will soon be available on its network. The Chinese smartphone maker had confirmed the P20 moniker a couple of weeks back in a teaser image, but the other two remained unnamed. Some earlier leaks had revealed the P20 Plus name for one of the devices which is referred to here as the P20 Pro. Another thing this statement confirms is that the devices will be available via carriers, at least on Vodafone in the UK, soon after they are announced on March 27 in Paris.
The highlight of the Huawei P20 series is the presence of triple rear cameras, which is expected to remain exclusive to the Pro variant, while the other two will sport dual cameras. Huawei has been teasing the triple-camera setup and its AI capabilities hinting towards the use of its in-house HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor on at least two of the phones. The chipset was also found powering the Honor View 10 featuring the said AI capabilities when it was announced a few weeks back. A few press renders of the phone had leaked giving a look at them from the front, where they can be seen boasting a nearly bezel-less design with a little chin bezel and an iPhone X-like notch on the top of its 18:9 display. The display notch is said to be persistent across all the three devices but it seems to be a tad smaller than that of iPhone X, thanks to the lack of dedicated hardware for facial recognition.
Specifications for the Huawei P20 Pro had leaked in February suggesting it will get up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, besides a flagship processor. The phone is rumored to include a 6-inch FHD+ display, a primary 12-megapixel color sensor, a secondary monochrome sensor, while its third camera is expected to offer 5x optical zoom with its telephoto lens. On the other hand, the P20 Lite will sport a smaller 5.84-inch FHD+ display, have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and a 3,000mAh battery, according to the leaked information. Vodafone Spain also recently detailed Huawei P20 Lite’s specifications in its product catalog along with its expected launch price of €369 (~$458)
