Huawei P20 Lite Leaks With Display Notch, Leica Cameras

Two real-life images depicting what's said to be Huawei's upcoming P20 Lite mid-ranger appeared online earlier today, having originally emerged on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. The photographs that can be seen above show a glossy black variant of the device which boasts an 18:9 screen and relatively minimal bezels, as well as a small display notch which appears to be housing a front-facing camera, loudspeaker, and a proximity sensor. The slim bottom bezel of the handset accommodates Huawei's branding but lacks a physical Home key which could double as a fingerprint reader. Instead, such a sensor is mounted on the rear plate of the device, being centered approximately a third of the way down.

A Leica-made dual-camera setup is also seen as being part of the package, consisting of two vertically arranged sensors accompanied by an LED flash unit. One of the two 26mm ASPH lenses is likely mounted above a monochrome sensor, whereas the other one is tasked with capturing colors, with Huawei already having a long history of utilizing such a system in collaboration with Leica. Both the P9 and P10 smartphone series relied on a similar sensor configuration, as did the recent additions to the Mate 10 phablet lineup.

The Mate 10 Lite is likely to be the only non-flagship member of the upcoming product family that's also said to consist of the regular Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro, the latter of which is widely expected to boast a triple-camera setup, also designed in partnership with Leica. The third lens found on the back of the Mate 10 Pro is understood to be of the telephoto variety, whereas the handset itself may not feature a display notch like the Mate 10 Lite. The Android smartphone series is scheduled to be officially unveiled on March 27 at a dedicated product launch event in Paris, France, with all three devices being likely to go on sale worldwide come late April.
