A smartphone manufacturer, Zebra, has announced a new rugged smartphone targeted towards small and medium businesses, dubbed as the Zebra TC25. This handset allows employees to scan barcodes, manage routes, and complete invoices while they are on the go. The device maker claims that the Zebra TC25 supports the Zebra 2D barcode technology which allows the smartphone to capture barcodes faster and more accurately compared to cameras on consumer smartphones. The scanner could work even if the barcodes are damaged or faded, the tech company further stated. The Workforce Connect PTT Pro also comes with the smartphone, and it permits employees to make instant Push-to-Talk (PTT) calls and send secure text messages with other compatible mobile devices. The DataWedge feature comes pre-installed with the Zebra TC25, and it transmits the data captured by the device to existing applications used by businesses. The tech company also offers the Lifeguard for Android, a feature that improves the handset's security by providing extended security support and updates beyond the 36-month software support offered by a majority of OEMs.
The Zebra TC25 boasts the MIL-STD 810G certification, which means that the handset can endure both high and cold temperatures, as well as dusty environments. Moreover, the tech company noted that the handset is capable of withstanding multiple drops from a height of 4 feet (1.2m). The tech firm also offers a power pack that boosts the battery life of the smartphone, and it also sells a snap-on trigger handle which helps in reducing strain while using the handset.
The Zebra TC25 is fueled by the Snapdragon 430 chipset, while it ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal flash storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card with a capacity of up to 128GB. The smartphone sports a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels, and it is protected from scratches by a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass. The device is also equipped with an 8-megapixel camera and a non-removable 3,000mAh battery to keep the lights on. The handset also supports connectivity features like 802.11ac Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth 4.2 LE. The smartphone ships with Android Nougat pre-installed, and it can be purchased from the tech firm’s global reseller base.
