Specs: Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact – MWC 2018

In addition to announcing its Xperia XZ2 flagship earlier today, Sony also introduced the Xperia XZ2 Compact, a phone which is just as powerful as the Xperia XZ2, but smaller, and we're here to take a closer look at its spec sheet. The Xperia XZ2 Compact is fairly similar to the Xperia XZ2 in terms of specs, though the back side of the device is different, as it's made out of polycarbonate instead of glass. The Xperia XZ2 Compact, much like the Xperia XZ2, comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and that fingerprint scanner will work in the US as well.

The Xperia XZ2 Compact is fueled by the same SoC as the Xperia XZ2, the Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm's most powerful processor to date. The device comes with a 5-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, which means that the device is quite narrow, and extremely compact in general, not only thanks to its compact display, but its display aspect ratio as well. To put things into perspective, the phone measures 135 x 65 x 12.1mm, while it weighs 168 grams. The Xperia XZ1 Compact's display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, while the phone comes with an Advanced X-Reality for mobile, it takes SDR content and upscales it to HDR. Qualcomm's 4K encoding is used on the device, and the device offers Hi-Res audio, while it comes with front-facing stereo speakers. The Xperia XZ2 Compact sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 400GB), while you will need to use the second SIM card slot in order to insert a microSD card, if you'd like to expand the phone's storage, as it does not come with a separate microSD card slot.

The phone sports a 19-megapixel Motion Eye snapper (Exmor RS sensor) on the back, which offers 4K video recording, and can shoot super slow motion video up to 960 FPS. Predictive Capture is included here, and the same goes for the '3D Creator' feature. A 5-megapixel shooter (f/2.2 aperture, 23mm wide-angle lens) is included on the phone's front side, and the device sports a 2,870mAh battery. Bluetooth 5.0 is also a part of this phone's offering, same goes for NFC and Type-C USB 3.1 port, and the phone is also water and dust resistant. A 3.5mm headphone jack is not included here, so you'll need to use a dongle if you intend on using wired headphones with this device. 5CA LTE can be utilized by the Xperia XZ2 Compact (Cat. 18), while you will be able to pick up one of our color variants of the Xperia XZ2 Compact White Silver, Black, Moss Green, and Coral Pink.
