Some Asian Markets To Get 6GB RAM Sony Xperia XZ2 - MWC 2018

Sony's latest flagships might just ship with more RAM in some Asian countries, if a Taiwanese product listing for the Sony Xperia XZ2 is anything to go by. Sony is generally active when it comes to announcements at big mobile shows, and Mobile World Congress 2018 is no exception. Sony unveiled their latest flagships with a brand new design, dubbed Ambient Flow, which feature a water-inspired design of all glass and metal on the larger Xperia XZ2, and a taller 2:1 aspect ratio screen on both the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. Both phones are expected to ship with 4GB of RAM in most markets, but it appears Sony may be shipping some regional models with 6GB of RAM instead.

Why there's a difference between the Taiwanese/Hong Kong listing and the rest of the known models of the Xperia XZ2 isn't yet known. This variant, model number H8296, seems to only differ in the amount of RAM included and not much else; at least not according to the current listing. It's also entirely possible that this listing could simply have an error, but we'll have to wait and see if Sony's official product page includes this variant with more RAM, and whether or not Sony is going to be including any additional features as a result, or sell this particular model for a higher price. Given that both the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact both sport a 1080p display, it wouldn't be surprising to see a 6GB RAM variant of the smaller phone as well, if this model turns out to be real.

Sony's latest flagships sport all the latest specs, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, Sony's latest HDR-capable displays, and finally a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that will be enabled worldwide, unlike previous flagships that had theirs disabled in the US due to it being located in the power button. The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact have an expected launch date sometime in March, which will be just around the corner and although the exact launch date is still unknown anyone who has been interested in Sony smartphones before and are particularly interested in these two latest models will want to keep an eye out for them.
