Plex Live TV Expands To Xbox One, Roku, & More

Plex Live TV is expanding to Xbox One, Roku and more beginning this morning so you'll be able to watch live TV content on the platforms that you may use the most. While Live TV on Plex itself isn't new, the rollout to new platforms makes it even more possible to enjoy live TV with Plex while still getting to experience the benefits of having it as a media management tool for all of your other videos, pictures, and music.

Plex on Xbox One may be new, but Roku has had the service for some time as a beta so technically today's Roku-related changes aren't actually new changes, rather they're improvements that have been made to the already available feature for existing users. Included in those improvements is a new instant replay option, which should come in handy if you plan on watching the Winter Olympic games or any other live sporting events that have the potential for some really awesome moments. Plex also added a full time shifting feature and closed captioning, and now when you watch anything you'll see the current time of where you are in the content, meaning if you've been watching something for eight minutes exactly that time will be displayed just above the progress bar.

If you don't use Plex on either of the other two above-mentioned platforms, but you do use it through the web or with the Plex Media Player, Live TV with Plex is now available through these platforms as well so you never have to miss a moment of anything you were watching or wanted to watch, and it comes along with the full time shifting feature just like the other platforms. If you've never set up Plex Live TV before you will need a few things. First, you'll need a digital antenna, so you'll have to pick one of those up and install it to begin with. After that you'll also need to pick up a digital tuner, plug it in, then you'll be able to set everything up and start watching Live TV. To get access to Live TV you will need a Plex Pass, which starts at $4.99 a month. There's also a $39.99 annual option, or a lifetime pass for a one-time payment of $119.99.
