All-New Essential PH-1 Color Variants Won't Launch In Canada

Essential had introduced three new variants of the Essential PH-1 quite recently, but it seems like none of them will be available in Canada. Essential’s representative confirmed to Mobile Syrup that the Ocean Depths, Stellar Gray and Copper Black color variant of the Essential PH-1 will not become available in Canada. The Ocean Depths color variant is already available in the US via Essential’s official website, while the other two variants will be made available later this month, on February 20 and February 22, respectively.

Two regular color variants of the device, Black Moon, and Pure White models, are available in the US for $499, while the three new color versions will be priced at $599. In Canada, the Essential PH-1 is sold exclusively through Telus, and only the Black Moon version is available, at least from the company’s website, as Telus’ retail locations all over the country do sell both models, well, depending on where you look for them, that is, as the Pure White variant is available in extremely limited quantities in Canada. The newly-announced color variants of the Essential PH-1 are made out of the same materials as the regular color options, titanium and ceramic are still in play, though those new color variants are more expensive than regular models for a reason, it seems. Essential actually said that it’s more complicated to create those new colors of ceramic, which are used in the new phones, so that’s at least part of the reason why those versions are $100 more expensive than Black Moon and Pure White variants.

The Essential PH-1 was announced last year, and it was considerably more expensive at first, but the company had to lower the price due to low demand. Essential had sold less than 100,000 Essential PH-1 units last year, and it remains to be seen if we’ll see the second-gen model at all. This handset actually comes with high-end specs, in case you don’t know already, and it sports extremely thin bezels, even though a rather thin notch is included at the top of the display because of the front-facing camera. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, it comes with 4GB of RAM, and it features a 5.71-inch 2560 x 1312 display.
