The Meizu PRO 7 has won the ‘Oscar in Design’ iF Design Award in Germany. The Meizu PRO 7 had been announced back in July last year, and as part of this lineup, Meizu introduced two smartphones, the Meizu PRO 7 and PRO 7 Plus. These two smartphones look the same, even though the Meizu PRO 7 is a larger handset. The two phones also differ in terms of specs quite a bit, but the design award belongs to both of them, as there is no difference in terms of the general design, as already mentioned.
The Meizu PRO 7 actually picked up the iF Design award amongst more than 6,400 entries which were submitted by contestants from 54 countries all over the world, says Meizu. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the iF Design Award, it was founded back in 1953, and is annually conferred by the iF International Forum Design, which is a Hanover-based organization. Meizu actually collaborated with Frog, a multinational design company, in order to put together the Meizu PRO 7, which actually sports two displays, its main display is in the usual place, while its secondary panel lies on the back of the device. Meizu and Frog refer to the Meizu PRO 7’s design as a ‘full-dimensional design’. The Meizu PRO 7 devices are actually made out of metal, and their antennas are nicely tucked away at the top and bottom of the phone’s back side, so they fit really well with the overall design.
Now, both the Meizu PRO 7 and PRO 7 Plus come with Super AMOLED main display, while their secondary displays also offer OLED technology. The Meizu PRO 7 sports a 5.2-inch fullHD Super AMOLED panel, while the PRO 7 Plus features a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. Both devices feature a 2-inch secondary AMOLED panel. The Meizu PRO 7 is fueled by the Helio P25 64-bit octa-core SoC, while the Meizu PRO 7 Plus features the Helio X30 64-bit deca-core processor, and both of those SoCs are manufactured by MediaTek. Both devices ship with the company’s mBack multifunctional home key, while the two phones ship with 4GB and 6GB of RAM, respectively. We’ve actually reviewed the Meizu PRO 7 Plus a while back, just in case you’re interested in the device.
