Lenovo Showcases 100e, 300e & 500e Chromebooks – MWC 2018

Lenovo introduced three new Chromebooks during CES 2018, the 100e, 300e, and 500e Chromebooks. At this year's MWC event Lenovo is once again showing off these three new Chromebooks while also providing the latest availability information. On the latter point, the Lenovo 500e and 300e Chromebooks are both now available to buy in the US from Lenovo's online store and starting from $349 and $279, respectively. While the Lenovo 100e Chromebook is due to become available in March and starting from $219. In addition, Lenovo has confirmed all three models are due to become available soon through third-party retailers in the US and the UK, as well as in Australia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

These three Chromebooks are designed to cater to different consumer needs, with the 100e designed as more of an affordable option compared to the 300e and 500e which both sport various premium design traits. For example, both the 300e and 500e models provide greater levels of flexibility, adopt more of a 2-in-1 design, and offer the option for use in multiple positions including a tablet mode, while the 100e is more of a traditional laptop-designed Chromebook. Although, all three do come with an emphasis on durability including a more rugged design in general, as well as rubber bumpers, reinforced elements, and a spill-resistant keyboard. Likewise, Lenovo states all three have been designed with a touch-first experience in mind. So while all three models will offer a premium touch experience when engaging with Android apps, the experience is heightened even further on the 300e and 500e models. As the 300e supports touch from a wide range of stylus-like items, while the 500e actually comes with its own stylus, along with the use of Google-provided code to offer a near lag-free writing and sketching experience.

As for the general specs, all three models feature 4GB RAM, and 32 GB storage, although the 500e model will also be available with 8GB RAM and/or 64GB storage. Processors are different with the 100e powered by an Intel Celeron N3350, the 300e powered by a MediaTek MTK 8173C, and the 500e powered by an Intel Celeron N3450. All three, however, are listed to offer up to ten hours of battery life, and all three do include an 11.6-inch display along with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It might be worth noting the displays on the 300e and 500e models are IPS displays while the 100e makes use of a TN display.
