Xiaomi Redmi 5 With 4GB RAM Announced In China For $174

Xiaomi has just introduced a new variant of the Redmi 5, a 4GB RAM model. As most of you know, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus were introduced last month, the Redmi 5 arrived in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants, while the Redmi 5 Plus was announced in 3GB and 4GB RAM models. Well, it seems like the company decided to boost the Redmi 5 a bit more, and give consumers another variant to choose from, as a 4GB RAM variant of that smartphone was quietly introduced in China, read on.

The 4GB RAM Redmi 5 comes in Black, Gold, Light Blue and Rose Gold color variants, though the latter one is already sold out in China it seems. 4GB of RAM is backed with 32GB of storage in this phone’s case, and the device is priced at 1,099 Yuan in the country. The 2GB RAM model comes with 16GB of storage and it costs 799 Yuan ($126), while the 3GB RAM variant of the phone sports 32GB of storage and it is priced at 899 Yuan ($142). Other than the difference in RAM and storage, this phone is completely identical to its siblings. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is made out of metal, it sports relatively thin bezels, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner which sits below the phone’s main camera and an LED flash. The device’s volume up, volume down and power / lock buttons are included on the right as well, while its SIM card tray sits on the left. This smartphone is inferior to the Redmi 5 Plus, though, and it is also a bit smaller, but not by a lot.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ display, compared to the Redmi 5 Plus’ 5.99-inch fullHD+ panel. This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 450 64-bit octa-core processor, while the phone also offers memory expansion up to 128GB, all you’ll need is a microSD card. A 12-megapixel snapper is included on the back of this smartphone, while a 5-megapixel camera sits on the phone’s front side. This smartphone also offers a 3,300mAh non-removable battery, while 5V/2A fast charging is also a part of the package. Android 7.1.2 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Redmi 5, while you’ll get Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.1 skin on top of it. The device also sports two nano SIM cards, and Bluetooth 4.2.
