Rumor: Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s To Be First Snapdragon 845 Smartphone

Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2s could be the first smartphone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. This is based on a new tweet sent out by the tipster @MMDDJ_ which while short on details, does state the Mi MIX 2s will be “world 1st SD845 smartphone.” Which naturally leads to the suggestion it will arrive (in some capacity) before the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

Generally speaking, it had been assumed by many that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S smartphones will be the first to sport the Snapdragon 845 and this seemed to be further thought likely due to both Samsung phones expected to be announced before the end of this month and available to buy early next month. While this latest rumor is looking to suggest otherwise, there are some aspects which might to be clarified first. For example, the tweet does not specify whether the Mi MIX 2s will be the first device announced with the 845 (excluding Xiaomi's Mi 7 which although confirmed as a Snapdragon 845-powered phone, is not an announced phone yet), the first device released to market with the 845, or both. Therefore, it could be the the case the Mi MIX 2s is announced after the Galaxy S9 devices but available to buy before them. Likewise, it could also be the case the Mi MIX 2s will be announced before the Galaxy S9 line but released to market after Samsung’s latest.

In either case, the underlying suggestion here is the Mi MIX 2s will launch at this year's MWC event or shortly before. Which is in itself something that is still unclear. As while AndroidHeadlines did confirm Xiaomi does not intend to announce its new flagship smartphone - the Xiaomi Mi 7 - at the event, other rumors have pointed to the Mi MIX 2s as a likely device to be unveiled. In addition, previous rumors had already looked to confirm the Mi MIX 2s would indeed come powered by a Snapdragon 845 and so this latest rumor seems to reinforce that point once again. Along with confirming that in some way it will be a world’s first when it comes to Qualcomm’s latest SoC. However, and whenever it does arrive, one aspect which does seem certain is the Mi MIX 2s will continue the MIX line’s emphasis on little-to-no bezels.
