Several new images of the Sharp Aquos S3 has been released by the Taiwanese telecommunications regulator, National Communications Commission. These images were released after the regulator recently certified the upcoming handset. Based on the leaked images, the smartphone's display is surrounded by slim bezels although a cutout can be found at the top of the device's screen. This cutout contains the front-facing camera and the earpiece. Moreover, the bezel on the bottom of the display contains the manufacturer's logo, and it is slightly thicker compared to the bezels at the sides. On the other hand, the back of the handset closely resembles the diagram that was leaked around a week ago. The dual rear cameras are assembled vertically, with the LED flash placed directly below the two shooters. The fingerprint scanner is also placed on the back panel, and in the black model of the device, the sensor is colored white.
Earlier reports and rumors have detailed the internal specifications of the handset. The Sharp Aquos S3 is rumored to sport a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It has been reported that there will at least two variants of the smartphone, and these two differ in terms of the included chipset, the RAM size, and the capacity of its internal flash storage. One variant contains the Snapdragon 630 processor, which is comprised of an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU and the Adreno 508 GPU. It also includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage.
The other variant of the Sharp Aquos S3 is equipped with the more powerful Snapdragon 660 chipset, which contains an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU and the Adreno 512 GPU. In addition, this model of the handset includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash storage. The dual rear cameras are equipped with one 12-megapixel sensor and one 13-megapixel camera, while the front-facing snapper has a 16-megapixel sensor. The leaked images also show that the smartphone contains a 3100mAh battery and it seems that it will not have a headphone jack. It is also rumored that the handset will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. It has been previously reported that the device maker will launch the Sharp Aquos S3 on January 16 in Taipei, Taiwan. The launch event is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM.
