Watch TV On Roku, Fire TV & Chromecast with DIRECTV NOW

One of the most popular items this holiday season was a set-top box or a streaming stick on Roku or Amazon Fire TV's platform. Which means there are a ton of people out there looking for some new apps to try out on that new device. Well one that you won't want to miss is DIRECTV NOW. It's still a somewhat new service, having just celebrated its first birthday earlier this month, but it allows you to watch live TV on your laptop, smartphone and even your TV without subscribing to a cable service and using a cable box.

DIRECTV NOW is AT&T's streaming TV service, which was launched last year, and has a ton of channels available for you to watch at anytime. There are four channel packages available, starting at just $35 for 60 channels, and going up to $70 for 120 channels. Which is actually a great price for what you're getting here. Think of the entry-level package as basic cable. You get basically all of the same channels that you would get with basic cable, but without the cable box, and without having to watch it only on your TV. There are some channels missing, but the majority of the popular ones are included in that package. If there are others you want, you can upgrade to the other packages pretty quickly. Now as far as local channels go, most markets have at least two of the four major networks (that being CBS, NBC, Fox and ABC). So you'll need to check using your zip code to see if local channels are available for you. The same goes for regional sports networks, but the majority of them are available.

Other than getting rid of the cable box and really cutting the cord, there are a number of other reasons to use DIRECTV NOW. One of those being the fact that you can watch anywhere, on virtually any device. DIRECTV NOW is available on most devices these days, so when you're away, you can watch TV on your smartphone using the DIRECTV NOW app, or on your tablet, even on your PC using its website. Making it easy for you to watch TV when you're home, or or when you're traveling. Now you can watch DIRECTV NOW anywhere in the US, so if you are traveling outside of the US, you won't be able to watch, unfortunately. And if that's not enough for you, most networks that have a TV Anywhere app, work with DIRECTV NOW. Allowing you to go ahead and TV anywhere, with even more content available than what you would find on DIRECTV NOW. Which is really impressive when you think about it.

DIRECTV NOW may not be perfect, but for $35/month, it's pretty darn good. And you can still get a free trial and check it out without paying anything. The free trial is just 7 days, but DIRECTV NOW is currently running a sale where you can get $25 off of your first month. So you can get 60 channels for just $10/month, which is a great deal when you think about it. And it'll give you plenty of time to really check out the service and see how good it is, and if it'll fit your needs.
