The holidays are less than a week away, and while most retailers have passed shipping deadlines for packages arriving in time for the holidays, you do still have time with Amazon. If you are not an Amazon Prime user, you'll want to pick up a free 30-day trial. As an added bonus, if you sign up using a .edu email account, you get 6 months free, and of course you can cancel at any time. This is important because Amazon's cut off for standard shipping was on Monday. But you can still get items shipped in time, leading all the up to this Sunday in some areas. Let's break down Amazon Prime shipping so you can get a better idea of when you need to get your shopping done.
Amazon Prime offers free two-day shipping, next-day shipping and Prime Now which is same-day shipping and often times arrives within an hour or two. There will be no shipments occurring on Christmas itself, so you realistically only have until the end of this week. Keep in mind that Same-Day Shipping is only available in a few major markets, so you'll want to check to make sure your zip code will get the package in-time. Next-day (to deliver on Sunday) is also only available in some markets, though it is available in more areas than same-day shipping, which is good. But for everyone else, your deadline will be Friday, December 22nd, and everything will arrive on Sunday, December 24th. Two-day shipping is free with Amazon Prime, but next-day shipping can cost anywhere from $3.99 to $22.99. So you'll want to keep these costs in mind and not procrastinate too much.
That doesn't give you much time to get your shopping done, but you do also have the choice of picking up some items at a Whole Foods location near you. Keep in mind that Whole Foods does not carry everything that Amazon's website might have. So your best bet is to still get everything ordered by Friday, December 22nd. Amazon does also have a "Last Minute Gifts" section available on its website, which offers up all sorts of deals on different products that would make great gifts this year. So there's no reason to wait until the last minute to pick up the last of your gifts for everyone on your list this year.
If for some reason you don't get everything finished before Sunday, you can still get some last minute gifts from Amazon on Christmas day. These include gift cards, or even the gift of Prime. Amazon has a number of gift cards available on its website, which you can email to people. All of the big names are included here, like Uber, Lyft, Applebees, Chilis, Amazon.com, and many more. Of course, giving the Gift of Prime is also a great gift, seeing as the recipient would get free two-day shipping, access to a ton of video on Amazon Prime video, access to Amazon Music and so much more. You can choose to do 3 months for $33 or a full year for $99. So if you don't already have Amazon Prime, you'll definitely want to make sure you sign up for a free trial and get these gifts before Christmas!
