Samsung had introduced its new Galaxy A8 mid-range handsets quite recently, the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018), and the company has just confirmed a release date for these two phones. During the announcement, the company said that the two phones will launch early next month, in January, and during a recent event in Vietnam, this Korea-based tech giant revealed that the two phones will launch in that country on January 6, and that probably indicates the release date in a number of other countries as well.
As far as Vietnam is concerned, the two phones will be priced at VND 10,990,000 ($482) and VND 13,490,000 ($592), which means that the two devices will cost less in Vietnam than they will in Europe. As a reminder, the company announced that the Galaxy A8 (2018) will cost €499 ($590) in Europe, while its larger sibling will be priced at €599 ($710). These two handsets are the company’s very first mid-range phones to sport the Infinity display, which basically means that the two devices ship with really thin bezels all around, based on what we’ve seen from Samsung’s flagship phones like the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8. The Galaxy A8 (2018) handsets come with a conveniently-placed fingerprint scanner, unlike its premium counterparts, and the two devices sport a single camera on the back, while their displays sport rounded corners.
The Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8 Plus (2018) both sport two cameras up front, 16 and 8-megapixel snappers, while a 16-megapixel camera has been included on the back side of both devices. The Galaxy A8 (2018) features a 5.6-inch fullHD+ (2220 x 1080) Super AMOLED Infinity display, while its S8 Plus (2018) counterpart comes with a 6-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity panel. Samsung’s 14nm Exynos 7885 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels each of these handsets, while Android 7.1.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on both of them, along with Samsung’s custom UI. The Galaxy A8 (2018) features 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of native storage, while the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) comes with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. It remains to be seen if the two phones will launch in Europe at the same time they will arrive in Vietnam, stay tuned.
