LG has just announced that it is partnering with Meridian Audio, a popular UK-based audio company, for its upcoming audio products that will likely be announced at CES in January. This new partnership is going to bring more high-performance audio to more consumers. LG is touting that it'll be bringing its "award-winning, innovative consumer electronics" with "Meridian's unrivaled sound technology will deliver unique solutions to consumers and a supreme entertainment experience."
When it come to home entertainment, LG has already set the bar for audio as well as picture quality with its OLED TV's. Now with this new Meridian Audio partnership, LG will be raising its bar for audio products. The partnership will really raise the bar on acoustic performance, thanks to Meridian using natural and authentic sound derived from rigorous research and development. LG did also announce that Meridian will be working with the company to produce a number of audio products. This includes sound bars, wireless speakers and much more. This partnership will likely replace LG's partnership it had with Harman Kardon for its TV's and other products for the 2016 product year. Of course, we'll learn more about what products will get the Meridian Audio treatment at CES, in Las Vegas next month.
Those that might not be familiar with Meridian, it is a pioneer in the high-performance, high-fidelity audio, and has been around for over 40 years. So it's not a new company, but one that has a history of creating great sounding audio products. Meridian has influenced just about every facet of the industry, and it is even responsible for the adoption of audio technologies like Hi-Res Audi and MQA. On the automotive side of things, Meridian also set a new standard for automotive audio with 3D surround system in-car, back in 2012. When speaking about the partnership, Meridian Audio's chief executive officer, John Buchanan stated that the company is "thrilled to have entered into this unique partnership with LG and confident that our expertise and shared values will see us bring a great number of innovations to the market together, both now and in the future." For LG's customers, this is going to be a very exciting partnership, especially those that are into high-end audio and LG's current product portfolio.
