The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3, Xiaomi's latest Android-powered tablet, has been removed from the company's official website, and is no longer available for purchase, which stirred up some rumors that Xiaomi has no intention of introducing its successor, well, those rumors were definitely wrong. Xiaomi's director of marketing, Zang Zhiyuan, took to Weibo (Chinese social network) to squash those rumors, as he confirmed that the next-gen Mi Pad tablet is currently being developed by the company.
Now, Mr. Zhiyuan also revealed why the Mi Pad 3 is no longer available from the company's website, as he claims that the reason is incredibly simple, the Mi Pad 3 has been completely sold out. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 was one of the more affordable tablets out there, at least in its category. Considering what it had to offer, its price was not exactly a big deal, even though Xiaomi did not sell it in that many regions, at least not officially. Now, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is not that old, this tablet was announced back in April, which means that it is only 7 months old at this point. If Xiaomi intends to stick to its release cycle, we won't be seeing a new Mi Pad tablet arrive until the beginning of Q2 next year. If Xiaomi really intends to wait this long to release the Mi Pad 4, chances are that more Mi Pad 3 units will become available, if Xiaomi ordered a new batch of these units.
Having said that, some rumors actually indicated that the Mi Pad 4 will be somewhat different than its predecessor, as it might be more of a 2-in-1 hybrid, than a regular tablet, as the tablet market is not exactly appealing to manufacturers anymore, as consumers are not that interested in purchasing tablets, which is probably a direct consequence of large smartphones. In any case, the Mi Pad 3 is a metal-clad tablet which sports a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 display, while it is fueled by the MediaTek MT8176 64-bit hexa-core processor. This tablet comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, while it ships with MIUI 8 OS out of the box. This tablet also packs in a 13-megapixel camera on its back, and a 6,600mAh non-removable battery.
