Lava Red OnePlus 5T Color Option Becomes Official In China

When the OnePlus 5T was originally introduced in China recently, the OEM confirmed that the device will be treated with a limited edition Lava Red color option aside from the standard Midnight Black flavor, and this particular variant has now been launched in China for the starting price of 2,999 Yuan or the rough equivalent of $454. As yet there’s no official word on whether the Lava Red OnePlus 5T will be introduced in any other regions or if it will remain exclusive to the Chinese market, but we can assume that OEM could at least consider a wider release if the International OnePlus community will want this color option bad enough.

Unsurprisingly the Lava Red OnePlus 5T retains the exact same hardware characteristics as the Midnight Black model, presenting a generous 6.01-inch full-screen Optic AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a pixel count of 2160 by 1080. The device makes use of the Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm, however, it’s not entirely clear if the device borrows a page from the Midnight Black model and can be paired with either 6GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board memory, or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. But as mentioned previously, the official landing page for the Lava Red model shows the starting price of 2,999 Yuan, and this particular price tag normally corresponds with the Midnight Black model housing 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, whereas the beefier variant is available for 3,499 Yuan or the rough equivalent of $530 at today’s conversion rate.

Getting back to the smartphone’s specifications, the Lava Red OnePlus 5T benefits from an improved dual-camera setup compared to the 16:9 OnePlus 5, as it relies on the same Sony IMX398 16-megapixel main sensor which has now been coupled with a secondary Sony IMX376K 20-megapixel unit. The front-facing shooter clocks in at a resolution of 16-megapixels, and although the device carries a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor it also offers a Face Unlock feature which seems to be notably fast and able to unlock the device in just 0.4 seconds.
