Razer is a company that is known far and wide for its industry-leading gaming peripherals and hardware, like gaming mice, gaming keyboards, gaming mousepads, and top-end gaming laptops. What it's not known for far and wide, or at all at this point, is smartphones. That's about to change as Razer will soon hold an event today for what has been a heavily-rumored and highly-anticipated smartphone release. The Razer Phone as it's currently being referred to might not seem like such a surprise as many have suspected it since the company purchased Nextbit, the brand behind the uniquely designed Robin.
Though Razer hasn't technically confirmed anything for the event yet other than the fact that they have something to announce, most of the rumors seem to paint a pretty vivid picture of what to expect once the cameras turn on and the live stream begins. For instance, the fact that what Razer is showing off today at the event is suspected to be a phone, something which has been made pretty clear by the teasers too.
In addition to the teasers, rumors for what the phone is carrying in the hardware and specs department have also given consumers some idea of what Razer may be aiming to offer here. One thing that is certain is that Razer will be targeting gamers. It's a gaming company, so there's no doubt about what it's releasing will be heavily gaming-focused. As for the specs, again nothing has been confirmed but the rumors peg the device as coming with 8GB of RAM which, is not completely unheard of as the OnePlus 5 came in an 8GB RAM model, as have other phones, but not many devices are offering that much memory, so Razer would be ahead of the curve here. On top of that it's also been rumored to come with a Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood with an Adreno 540 GPU to handle the graphics processing, and it's said to come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, along with a dual rear-facing camera setup with an LED flash, though there has been no mention in the rumors about the quality of the sensors. The rumors also suggest that Razer's first-ever smartphone will come with 64GB of internal storage space, and based on the leaked image in the rumor post, along with Razer's signature color for every other product it makes, the phone will be coming in black. If you're interested in the Razer phone, the company is holding a live stream for the event, which you can access and watch below.
