Official Xiaomi Redmi 5A Camera Samples Are Now Available

Xiaomi had introduced its new budget phone yesterday, the Redmi 5A, and the phone's camera samples have just surfaced. This new handset is actually quite similar to its predecessor, the Redmi 4A, both in terms of the design (though the Redmi 5A is made out of metal, unlike the Redmi 4A), and its specifications, but that is not all that surprising considering that this is one of Xiaomi's more affordable smartphones. So, is it capable of shooting some decent photos? Well, according to the provided camera samples, it sure is, at least in good lighting conditions, read on.

These are Xiaomi's official camera samples for the Redmi 5A, as they have been shared by Lin Bin, Xiaomi's co-founder, on Weibo (Chinese social network). There are only four images included here, but as you can see, they look rather okay, they are a tad on the darker side, but the colors are spot on. In these images you will see various vegetables, fruits and flowers posing for the camera, and it seems like Xiaomi is trying to emphasize the phone's ability to capture colors properly. Now, in terms of the camera hardware, this smartphone is not all that powerful, but do keep in mind that this is an extremely affordable device. The Redmi 5A sports a 13-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture, PDAF) on the back, which is a solid camera for the price point, but the sensor is not capable of letting a lot of light in an image, which will probably affect the Redmi 5A's low light performance.

The Redmi 5A sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 425 64-bit quad-core SoC, while a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also included in this package. The Redmi 5A also includes a 5-megapixel front-facing camera (f/2.0 aperture), and Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the device with Xiaomi's MIUI 9 OS. There are two SIM card slots included inside of this phone, and an IR blaster is also available at the very top of this smartphone. It's also worth noting that the Redmi 5A is priced at only 599 Yuan ($90) in China, and it is already available for purchase in that country.
