Motorola's New Moto Mod Is An Alexa-Enabled Smart Speaker

Motorola has announced its latest Moto Mod, the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa. Rumors surrounding the launch of an Alexa-enabled speaker mod have been circulating  the industry for a while now, with renders of the smart speaker mod leaking a few days ago, but now the company has confirmed the mod's availability and compatibility with both the original Moto Z line and this year's Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play.

The new Moto Smart Speaker works in a similar way to Amazon's Echo speakers, with the obvious major difference being that the newly announced Moto Mod can be taken anywhere. Owners of compatible devices will be able to ask Alexa questions and issue most other commands usually supported by the AI service, with many making use of a smartphone screen in order to display information. The speaker mod includes four microphones which the company says will allow users to be heard from across a room, and in order to keep the speaker working, a battery that allows it to operate up to 15 hours on a single charge without relying on your smartphone's own cell. To make charging easier, the Moto Mod has been created with docks in mind, allowing users to charge it while still being able to make use of all of its features. Motorola's Wednesday announcement wasn't limited to the new Moto Mod, with the company also confirming that the Moto X4 will be available for pre-orders in the U.S. starting tomorrow, with sales commencing the following week on October 26th. For those who don't know, the Moto X4 comes equipped with a 5.2-inch Full-HD display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630. As well as this, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage are also included alongside a dual-camera combo entailing a 12-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel one, with a 16-megapixel camera sitting on the opposite side.

Motorola has confirmed that the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa will be available in November for purchase for $149.99 from Amazon, Best Buy,, and Verizon. On the other hand, the Moto X4 will be available for $399.99 at a number of stores including Best Buy, B&H, Fry's, and Republic Wireless. Aside from this, the company has also confirmed that the Moto X4 will be available as an Amazon Prime Exclusive Phone for just $329.99.
