DxO To Release DxO ONE Camera For Android Smartphones

DxO will soon launch a model of the DxO One that is compatible with Android smartphones, and it is looking for users who want to participate in the "Early Access" program for the product. The accessory was launched back in 2015 and until recently, it was only compatible with iOS devices. Now, the company will soon release a variant of the camera that will likely be compatible with all Android devices equipped with a USB type-C port. DxO is also releasing an Android app that will serve as the camera's viewfinder. In addition, users may control the aperture, ISO settings and shutter speed of the camera through the software, even if the accessory is not directly connected to the camera.

The DxO ONE camera boasts of a one-inch, 20-megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor and a six-element aspherical lens with an aperture size of f/1.8 and a full-frame focal length equivalent of 32mm. The size of the sensor is comparable to what is found in compact cameras, but the size of the DxO ONE is three times smaller than the full-fledged snappers. The camera sports a six-blade iris diaphragm, that is used to adjust the aperture size of the camera from f/1.8 to f/11. DxO claims that the use of an airless design, which places the lens directly on top of the sensor, resulted in the reduced size of the camera. Captured images can be stored in either JPEG or DNG file formats, although the DxO ONE camera also supports the Super RAW format, which is specially designed for a low-light environment or high ISO settings. The device weighs less than 108 grams and less than three inches in height.

In addition to the camera, the company is also selling accessories that could help improve the user experience of the device. Among the available accessories include the battery pack and tilt stand, which is already included with every purchase of the device. The former offers two additional hours of battery life while the latter provides five tilt directions for the camera. For people who want to be a part of DxO ONE's Early Access program, they may proceed to the company's website and enter their email address. DxO promises that the participants of this program will regularly receive updates that improve the user's photographic experience as well as exclusive bonuses.
