808 Audio Intros Alexa-Enabled XL-V With Multi-Room Support

808 Audio today announced a new device on its way to market, the 808 Audio XL-V. This is a Bluetooth speaker which not only allows users to connect to their devices, but also one which comes equipped with Amazon's Alexa Voice Service out of the box. Making it the first Alexa-enabled device to come from 808 Audio, while also further adding to the already substantial list of speakers, headphones, and party systems on offer from the company.

As a result of the Alexa integration, users will be able to make use of the numerous Alexa skills, including the ability to request a ride, order a pizza, and more. In addition, and again as a by-product of the Alexa integration, this is a unit that also offers up various Smart Home control features, such as adjusting smart thermostats, or turning off smart lights. That is while also making use of the various app integrations that are on offer including the ability to stream music over Wi-Fi through Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Pandora, TuneIn, and the rest. Adding to its feature list, the XL-V also does come equipped with support for multi-room functionality. Which does mean that it can connect to other speakers within the same home while acting as a single system in terms of music playback. Whether used on its own or as part of a wider system, 808 Audio does state that the XL-V is capable of delivering "crisp vocals and dynamic bass response." At the moment, most of the specs have yet to be confirmed by 808 Audio, although it is understood that the XL-V will come equipped with two 1.5-inch full range speakers, along with outward-facing drivers offering a 360-degree stereo sound output. While also providing direct on-board controls located on the top of the unit.

While 808 Audio has now officially announced this new smart speaker with Alexa, the XL-V has yet to become available to buy. With the company stating it will be available directly from the 808 Audio website, as well as from a number of retailers, including Amazon, Crutchfield and Fry's in November – although no specific date was given. In terms of price, the 808 Audio XL-V will be available to buy for $129.99.
