Video: OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5 Audio Recording Ability Compared

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer OnePlus published a YouTube video comparing the audio recording capabilities of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 5, boasting how it managed to significantly improve this aspect of its upcoming flagship. The audio quality comparison that can be heard below seemingly confirms as much, with the second recording made with the OnePlus 5 that starts around the 11-second mark being much cleaner than the first one. Given how the video posted by OnePlus is part of its official promotional campaign for the OnePlus 5, it remains to be seen how well will the smartphone perform in everyday use and whether the audio quality boasted by the BBK Electronics-owned original equipment manufacturer (OEM) will be comparable to that recorded by users.

Audio recording isn't the only aspect of the OnePlus 5 that's said to be a significant upgrade to that of its two predecessors, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T which were released last year. The Chinese firm already confirmed that its next flagship will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, Qualcomm's latest high-end piece of silicon boasting eight Kyro cores clocked at a maximum frequency of 2.45GHz and equipped with the Adreno 540 graphics chipset. While this particular system-on-chip (SoC) supports QHD and even higher resolutions, the OnePlus 5 is said to launch with a 5.5-inch Full HD display panel protected by 2.5D glass, similar to the one featured on the company's 2016 models. However, the handset will still be an upgrade in terms of performance, with recent reports indicating that the more expensive variant will boast 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash memory.

The Shenzhen, Guangdong-based consumer electronics manufacturer shared the first official render of the OnePlus 5 several hours ago, confirming that the device will sport a horizontal dual camera setup and an LED flash unit on its back panel. Exact specifics of that system are yet to be confirmed, though insiders previously said it will consist of two 16-megapixel sensors. The OnePlus 5 is scheduled to be officially announced on June 20 and the smartphone is expected to hit the market shortly after. More details on the device will likely follow in the coming days as the Chinese OEM is currently in the middle of a massive marketing campaign aimed at building up anticipation for the phone with numerous teasers.
