Microsoft's Outlook app for both Android and iOS devices has been recently updated, adding new features that help users manage contacts in the application. New features added to the Outlook application in this update include the ability to edit contacts within the application, redesigned contact cards immediately show more information to users, while you'll be able to call and message said users quicker as well.
The first key feature added into the application is the ability of Outlook.com and Office 365 account holders to add new contacts within the application. Adding contacts can be done using the plus sign located in the People tab of the Outlook application. Users can also retrieve information about people from messages and events, and then include it within a new contact by tapping the desired contact and then choosing the Add Contact option. Editing the contacts can also be done within the app through opening the desired contact and tapping the Edit button. At this point, these features are only available in the iOS version of the Outlook application, but Microsoft has promised that these will appear in the Android app soon.
Several changes were also done to the application that made it easier to retrieve information about a contact and to communicate with them. The card which shows the information about the contact has been modified to increase the amount of information immediately available to the user. The contact cards will now show the person's phone numbers, email addresses, Skype IDs and a profile picture. The most recent conversations, events, and meetings shared with the contact are also shown on the card. Aside from the additional information, new features are also added that will make calling and messaging contacts easier. Within the application, tapping the phone number included in the contact gives the user options to either call or message the individual. Meanwhile, Outlook now allows the users to save their contacts into the built-in contacts app of their device. Edits made in the contacts within the Outlook application will also be synced with the device's contact apps, but Microsoft warns that the contacts updated in the device's contacts app will not be synced automatically with the Outlook application.
