Motorola had introduced the Moto Z2 Play smartphone in South America a week ago, and the device has now been announced in India as well. The Moto Z2 Play is Motorola's mid-range handset, and if you live in India, and are interested in getting this handset, you can pre-order it starting today. The Moto Z2 Play comes in two variants, a more affordable model comes with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of storage, while the more powerful Moto Z2 Play variant sports 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB of storage. It is worth noting that both variants offer memory expansion, so you can utilize a microSD card if you'd like.

The Moto Z2 Play comes with a front-facing fingerprint scanner which doubles as the phone's home key, and the device's rear-facing camera protrudes on the back quite a bit. This camera hump has a purpose actually, it comes in handy when you're using Moto Mods. The Moto Z2 Play sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, and a 3,000mAh battery is included on the inside of this phone (Turbo Charging supported). This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 626 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Adreno 506 GPU. A 12-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of the Moto Z2 Play, and a 5-megapixel camera can be found on the device's front side. This device comes with a water repellent nano-coating, and a 3.5mm headphone jack is a part of this package as well. Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Moto Z2 Play, and on top of it, you'll get some additions by Motorola, but this is an almost stock build of Android. The Moto Z2 Play measures 156.2 x 76.2 x 5.99mm, while it weighs 145 grams.

The Moto Z2 Play comes in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold color variants, and its pricing begins at Rs. 27,999 in India (3GB RAM model). Unfortunately, we don't know how much will the 4GB RAM model cost, as Motorola did not share that info during the press event, nor did the company say how much will Moto Mods cost. The Moto Z2 Play will become available for pre-order in India starting at 2PM today (local time), and it will be available exclusively through Flipkart. Pre-orders end on June 14, and the phone will go on sale on June 15. It is also worth noting that the Moto Z2 Play is compatible with all existing Moto Mods, just in case you were wondering.
