Waze is bringing a new celebrity voice to its platform in collaboration with beverage manufacturer FUZE. As given away by the title and image above, the latest addition to Waze’s voice pack roster is none other than Mr. T, who is largely known around the globe for his catch phrase ‘I pity the fool’ and his role as B. A. Baracus in the 1980s TV series ‘The A-Team’.
Waze made the announcement through a recent blog post informing users that the newest addition to the platform’s list of celebrity voices “is gold chain rocking, mohawk icon, Mr. T”. Unsurprisingly, the latest voice option “packs a punch” and a couple of “fools” along with many other Mr. T lines which will guide users towards their destination. Waze reckons that Mr. T is what your drive has been missing all along, and “pities the fool that doesn’t update their Waze Voice.” Having said that, updating your Waze Voice with the latest Mr. T voice pack is as simple as it has always been: simply tap the “search” button within Waze, go to settings, access “Voice Directions”, select “English (US) - Mr. T” and wait for the package to download. However, it’s important to note that Mr. T is currently only available for Waze users residing in the United States and Canada, with no news of expanding in other regions.
Waze has been adding celebrity voice packs to its community-driven turn-by-turn navigation platform for a couple of years now. Last November Waze included voice support for Amazon’s The Grand Tour hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, while earlier in 2016 a Morgan Freeman voice pack has been added to the platform. Waze has quite a history behind it, as it first began as a community project founded and developed by Ehud Shabtai in 2006. The platform was acquired by Google in 2013 for the sum of $1.3 billion and continues to expand. Earlier this year, support for Google’s Smart lock security feature has been added to Waze, and the platform also received an update in January 2017 allowing users to browse locations by category.
