Spotify has been looking for ways to entice more of its free users to upgrade to their premium service. After all, the company has been posting an operating loss for its entirety of existence. Their latest plea is in a partnership with Capital One. Today, the company announced that those that have a Capital One QuickSilver card are able to get 50% off of their Spotify Premium subscription. This brings the cost of Spotify's Premium subscription down to just $5 per month. They are also offering up a free three-month trial for those that are not currently Spotify members.
This does work for both current and new subscribers to Spotify. If you are currently a Spotify Premium subscriber, all you need to do is change your payment method over to your Capital One QuickSilver card and you'll automatically get the 50% off through April 2018. Spotify and Capital One do also note that it may take a billing cycle or two for the discount to be applied. It's pretty simple to setup for new subscribers, and you can even take advantage of the three-month trial and see how you like Spotify's service (definitely worth trying before you give them any money). Spotify does include a large variety of music, which can be downloaded and streamed offline. Additionally, they have curated playlists, radio stations, podcasts and so much more. Spotify is always working to bring more features for their users, to keep their users.
This is just the latest promotion for Capital One on its QuickSilver card. This is their most popular card, and it also offers 1.5% back on all purchases, there's no limit. So theoretically, you'll be getting more than half off of your Spotify Premium subscription, since you'll be getting 1.5% back on that $5 subscription fee. Capital One had partnered with Uber, for users that used their QuickSilver card, they would get their tenth ride for free (up to $15). So while most of their commercials are about their Venture card, they seem to be offering the majority of the rewards to their QuickSilver cardmembers.
