Sony Xperia XZ Premium Pre-Orders Open June 12, For $799.99


Sony has today announced US availability for the Xperia XZ Premium, with the company confirming that the smartphone will be available to pre-order for $799.99, from June 12. In terms of where, Sony has confirmed that the smartphone will be available from a number of online retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy. While those looking to avoid pre-orders and straight purchase the unlocked model will be able to from June 19, 2017, and again, from a number of retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, and Fry's, in the US. Lastly, Sony has confirmed that the Xperia XZ Premium will be available to buy in the US in three colors – Bronze Pink, Deepsea Black, and Luminous Chrome.

If you need a recap on the specs and features, then it is clear that the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is designed to be the company's flagship option for 2017. Compared to the other 2017 Xperia models, the Xperia XZ Premium comes packed with a higher spec list, including 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC. In addition, this is a smartphone that comes loaded with a 5.5-inch 4K TRILUMINOS and HDR-supported display, for a more vivid viewing experience, while the cameras are another one of the key selling points. As Sony touts the Xperia XZ Premium as a "world's first" smartphone, due to the its inclusion of a "memory-stacked Motion Eye image sensor with 960 FPS Super slow motion video and Predictive Capture capability". The rear camera is a 19-megapixel camera, while the front-facing camera is a 13-megapixel option. Additional features worth noting include the option to expand the storage via microSD card (up to 256GB), a 3,230 mAh battery, USB Type-C connectivity, and Android 7.1 (Nougat) as the pre-installed operating system version.

Of course, that is not the sum of all of the features on offer with the XZ Premium, as this smartphone also does comes with a number of OTT features. For instance, the XZ Premium employs the help of Qnovo Adaptive Charging for improved battery life, while the glass panels included on the XZ Premium are not only protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, but are also IP68 certified – for protection against water. Making this a smartphone that is not only camera and display-focused, but durable as well.
