Karlsruhe-based flaregames released a sequel to Zombie Gunship titled Zombie Gunship Survival. The game hit the Google Play Store earlier this week and is now available for download on Android smartphones and tablets. Zombie Gunship Survival allows players to take the gunner seat of an AC-130 aircraft and protect the ground troops from hordes of the undead. The latest offering from the top-grossing Zombie Gunship franchise is a mobile shooter game that plays like a traditional FPS. Zombie Gunship Survival’s story follows its prequel as players fly the AC-130 aircraft to battle thousands of zombies several months after a zombie apocalypse. With the future of humanity at stake, the gunner of the AC-130 has the crucial job of protecting their troops on the ground while they engage in dangerous scavenging missions and secure resources. The soldiers need to build a remote airfield which then acts as both a base for operations and a safe house.
As the zombies keep attacking players from all sides, they will need to unlock and upgrade weapons to annihilate them. There are over 30 various weapons that players can unlock as they clear missions in flaregames’ latest game. The gunship weapons range from the 5.56mm machine gun, to 20mm and 30mm autocannons, and a wide variety of heavy cannons. The ground troops can be armed with MP5 submachine guns, AK47 assault rifles, AR -15 assault rifles, M249 machine guns, various shotguns, and other weaponry that will help them survive the latest digital zombie apocalypse.
The interface of Zombie Gunship Survival shows an aerial view of the action as players deploy soldiers and cover them with fire. Initially, the AC-130 is equipped with a 5.56mm machine gun that is upgraded using weapon parts obtained from in-game crates that are awarded after completing a mission. The controls of the game are customizable and mostly work as expected. Zombie Gunship Survival requires Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or newer versions of Google’s operating system and is a somewhat resource-intensive game, though most contemporary smartphones and tablets should still be able to run it.
