Samsung Chromebook Pro Available For Pre-Order On Amazon

Samsung Chromebook Pro pre-orders and an availability date have now been listed on Amazon, after what has seemed quite a wait. The next-generation Chromebook Pro and Chromebook Plus were both officially unveiled by the company at CES 2017 that took place in January. While the Chromebook Plus became available soon afterward that wasn’t the same story for the Pro. Now though, pre-orders for the device are available from the giant online retailer, and while Samsung still has not announced an official release date the Amazon listing says that it will be released on May 28.

One thing worth pointing out is that when pre-orders for a device become available they are often shown as ‘coming soon’, so the fact that Amazon has given an actual release date is a little surprising. However, Samsung has actually issued the listing in question, so it’s certainly credible that the May 28 availability is accurate. The Chromebook Pro has an Intel processor and the price is listed at $549.99, just as expected. That’s $100 more than for the Chromebook Plus, which is equipped with a OP1 hexa-core processor. The Chromebook Pro offers a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet experience with features that include automatic updates and built-in antivirus. Its Google Play integration also means easy access to millions of Android apps.

The specifications of the newest Samsung Chromebook include a 2.2GHz Intel Core M3 6Y30 processor with Intel HD graphics, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. It has a 12.3-inch 360-degree rotating touchscreen that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and this display has 3:2 aspect ratio and Quad HD resolution of 2400 x 1600. There’s support for USB Type-C charging along with connectivity options that include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.0. The device also comes with an HD webcam, stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Battery life is claimed to last for up to 8 hours and Samsung says that productivity time is lengthened through an enhanced battery life extender. The Samsung Chromebook Pro also makes use of an integrated digitized stylus pen on the side of the device, while design-wise it’s slim and lightweight with a full metal build that gives it a premium look.
