Audio app NOISE is now available for download on the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Samsung Galaxy S8, and the Galaxy S8 Plus. The music-making tool hit the Google Play Store earlier this week as an early access app that has yet to be officially released, though owners of some of the aforementioned devices should now be able to download it directly from Google’s digital marketplace in all parts of the world. Developed by musical instrument manufacturer ROLI, NOISE was designed specifically for the purpose of making a wide variety of music. The app boasts a streamlined user interface and controls that mostly rely on gestures in an effort to make the user experience of the tool as intuitive as possible. While NOISE is capable of creating simple melodies, it can also be used for producing entire songs and beats spanning a broad range of genres, ROLI claims.
In addition to serving as an extremely portable mobile music studio, NOISE is also compatible with ROLI BLOCKS, the company’s previously released modular studio for creating music. Much like the ROLI-made hardware, the firm’s app was designed to act as both a musical instrument and a studio that can be customized in any way users see fit. Regardless of whether it’s paired with ROLI BLOCKS or not, NOISE can be the ultimate creativity and production tool for beginners, aspiring musicians, and established veterans of the art, its creators claim. The announcement of an early access version of NOISE came at the Google I/O 2017 developer conference that started on Wednesday with a performance enabled by a set of ROLI BLOCKS and the company’s Seabord RISE that was connected to NOISE running on a Google Pixel.
The audio app is scheduled to be officially released on the Google Play Store later this year, though its availability will initially be relatively limited given how it requires Pro Audio technology to work, something that’s still not available in many contemporary smartphones. Once fully released, the app will boast a larger number of features that will likely be expanded upon over the coming years. An update on the availability of NOISE is expected to follow in the coming months.Google play
