Huawei P10 Arrives In Canada June 6, P10 Plus Only At Rogers

Huawei today announced that the Huawei P10 and the Huawei P10 Plus are set to become available in Canada, starting from June 6, 2017. While firm details were not provided on pricing (with the announcement simply detailing that “pricing will be determined by each carrier”), the announcement does explain that the devices will be available from Bell, Fido, Rogers, and Videotron. Specifically noting that Bell, Fido, and Videotron will each stock the Huawei P10 in black, while Rogers will offer the Huawei P10 in both black and gold colors.

Furthermore, it seems Rogers will be getting a couple of exclusives. Firstly, the announcement confirms that Rogers will be the only carrier where the Huawei P10 can be picked up in blue. Probably more interestingly, the announcement confirms that Rogers will be the ‘exclusive carrier’ for the Huawei P10 Plus in general, as well as the blue version of the P10 Plus. So it does seem as though customers in Canada who are after the P10 Plus (in any color), will have to go through Rogers.

Both the Huawei P10 and the P10 Plus were announced at this year’s MWC event in Barcelona and have since become available in various regions. In terms of Canada, it did become clear in April that June was the month in which the devices would gain their general release. Although at the time there was no firm confirmation on when exactly in June, with the announcement simply confirming the “first week of June” as the scheduled arrival time. In terms of the differences between the two models, generally speaking they do look to offer the same specs and user experience and even more so in Canada. For instance, Huawei did announce a 6GB RAM version of the P10 Plus, although that does not look to be coming to Canada as part of this release. Which means both P10 models come packed with 4GB RAM, a HiSilicon Kirin 960 octa-core SoC, a dual rear camera setup (consisting of a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12-megapixel RGB sensor), an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 7.0 (Nougat) pre-installed. With the differences being the Huawei P10 is equipped with a 5.1-inch FHD display, 32GB storage and a 3,200 mAh battery. While the Huawei P10 Plus is equipped with a 5.5-inch WQHD display, 64GB internal storage, and a 3,750 mAh battery.
