The Gionee S10 has now been spotted on GFXBench, seemingly confirming many of the rumors and speculations about its key hardware specs, although, Gionee seems to be prepping two different variants of the device, given how two distinct sets of CPUs and GPUs are listed on the benchmark index. The device had received its all-clear last month from the Chinese electronics certifications agency, TENAA, revealing quite a bit about its hardware specifications. Several alleged images of the device have also been leaked on the internet, suggesting that it will feature a quad-camera setup, which basically means two cameras on the front and two on the back. With the listing on GFXBench, most of that info seems to check out, which means the upcoming device will very likely be a fairly decent mid-range smartphone.
According to GFXBench, one of the Gionee S10 variants will certainly be powered by the MediaTek Helio P20 (MT6757) SoC as has often been rumored in the past, but the company will apparently also introduce a slightly higher-spec’d version powered by the Helio P25 (MT6757CD) SoC. While the former comes with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and an ARM Mali-T880 GPU clocked at 900 MHz, the latter features an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at a slightly higher 2.5 GHz, alongside the ARM Mali-T880 MP2 dual-core GPU clocked at 1 GHz. As for the rest of the specs, the device is expected to ship with a 5.5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
With cameras increasingly becoming the distinguishing factor in mid-range devices, Gionee has decided to bestow its upcoming smartphone with as many as four image sensors. While the rear-facing camera module on the Gionee S10 is expected to pack dual 16-megapixel sensors, the front-facing module will have a 20-megapixel sensor alongside a 5-megapixel one. GFXBench also seems to suggest that the upcoming device will come with an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a magnetometer (e-compass), an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor. As is expected, the device will also offer GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, but won’t include an NFC chip. Either way, rumors have suggested that the Gionee S10 will launch on May 26th, so it shouldn’t be long before there's more official information about the device.
