Best Tablets & 2-in-1s: May 2017

We did not see that many tablets and 2-in-1s released lately, and our top 10 list for May is only slightly different than the one we posted last month. There are not many changes here, the Samsung Chromebook Pro will become available soon, through Amazon, and the Mi Pad 3 has been added to the list. That being said, there are still many quality offerings included here, so let’s get started, shall we.

10. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016)

The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) is Samsung’s mid-range tablet offering for those that would like to own one of the company’s tablets, but are unwilling to break the bank for the Galaxy Tab S3. This tablet comes in a variant with the S Pen stylus, and without one, it’s up to you to choose which one you want. The tablet comes in 2GB / 3GB RAM variants, while it sports a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display. The variant with the S Pen costs around $290, while you can get the one without it for even less than that.

9. Google Pixel C

The Google Pixel C is Google’s very own tablet offering, even though this tablet is made by HTC. The Pixel C features a 10.2-inch 2560 x 1800 display, 3GB of RAM and it is fueled by the NVIDIA Tegra X1 64-bit quad-core processor. This tablet is made out of metal, and has been around for quite some time now actually. You can get the Pixel C from Amazon for $639 if you’d like, which is not exactly an affordable price point, but if you’re looking for a tablet with stock Android on it, the Google Pixel C is the way to go.

8. Acer Chromebook R 13

The Acer Chromebook R 13 features a 13-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, while it can run Android applications, if that’s something you’re looking for. This tablet is fueled by MediaTek’s MT8173C Core Pilot quad-core SoC, and it’s definitely not one of the most powerful Chromebooks out there, but it’s more affordable than the top of the line offerings. This Chromebook can be purchased for $399 over at Amazon at the moment.

7. Xiaomi Mi Pad 3

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is Xiaomi’s latest and greatest tablet. This device resembles the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 quite a bit, not only in terms of the design, but also its specifications. This tablet features a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of non-expandable storage. It is made out of metal, and fueled by the MediaTek 8176 64-bit hexa-core processor. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 can be purchased for $255 through GearBest, if you’d like to get one.

6. Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet

The Xperia Z4 Tablet is made out of metal and glass, and it is still Sony’s most powerful tablet. This device sports a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 display, 3GB of RAM and it comes with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. This tablet can be purchased in both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi variants. If you’d like to get the 4G LTE variant of the tablet you’ll need to part ways with $659, while the other variant is more affordable, but it is currently not available.

5. ASUS Chromebook Flip C302

The ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 sports a 12.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 4GB of RAM and it is fueled by Intel’s Core m3 chip, while it also offers 32GB of internal storage. This is a really solid option if you’re in a market for a Chromebook, as it’s not crazy expensive, and it offers everything you might need from a Chromebook. The ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 is currently priced at $499 over at Amazon.

4. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is no longer Samsung’s most powerful tablet out there, but it’s still a solid purchase if you’re not looking to get the latest and greatest. This tablet comes in two sizes, actually, you can get an 8-inch and a 9.7-inch variant, and they come in both Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE models. The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 variant with Wi-Fi only currently costs $347.99, while the 9.7-inch model is currently unavailable, but it will probably become available soon at Amazon.


3. Lenovo Yoga Book

The Lenovo Yoga Book is quite a compelling device if you’re looking for a new tablet. This tablet sports a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. Intel’s Atom X5-Z8550 SoC fuels this tablet, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes out of the box. This tablet is currently priced at $401 over at Amazon, which means it is currently $100 more affordable than usual.

2. Samsung Chromebook Plus & Pro

The Samsung Chromebook Plus had been available for purchase for quite some time now, while the Samsung Chromebook Pro will go on sale on May 28. The ‘Pro’ model is more powerful than its sibling, but they’re both compelling Chromebooks, it all depends on what you’re looking for in a Chromebook. The Samsung Chromebook Plus currently costs $437.90 over at Amazon, while its more powerful sibling will cost $550.

1. Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

The Galaxy Tab S3 is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful tablet on this list. This is the latest and greatest offering from Samsung, and in addition to shipping with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, this tablet also comes with an S Pen stylus. The device also features a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC. The device can be purchased from Amazon for $549.
