Xiaomi had introduced the Xiaomi Mi 6 last week in China, and it seems like quite a few people are interested in getting their copy of the company’s newest flagship. The device is scheduled to be released this Friday, April 28, and over 600,000 people pre-ordered the device through Jingdong Mall (JD.com) already, this is one of China’s largest retailers. Do keep in mind that we’re talking only about JD.com here, you can only imagine how many consumers will pre-order the phone before Friday through all available channels.
It is actually estimated that over 2 million people pre-ordered a copy of the Xiaomi Mi 6 thus far, but we cannot confirm such numbers, at least not yet. The first batch of the Xiaomi Mi 6 seems to be ready to go out, and do keep in mind that things work somewhat different in China. Those 2 million people who ‘pre-ordered’ the device did not actually buy it just yet, they’re only eligible to participate in the first flash sale that will be held on Friday, so the device won’t exactly be available for purchase to everyone. Not only do you need to be eligible to participate in the first flash sale, but you need to have enough luck to get your hand on the Xiaomi Mi 6, as Xiaomi won’t have enough units to sell to everyone who’s interested. That’s how things work in China, but it seems like Xiaomi did their best in order to secure as many units as possible for the first flash sale, and the second flash sale will surely follow soon after. The Xiaomi Mi 6 will also launch in regions outside of China in the near future, Xiaomi confirmed that, but we still don’t know when will that happen, unfortunately.
Such high pre-order numbers are not exactly that surprising considering that this phone comes with a high-end set of specs, not to mention that it’s quite popular in general, as this is Xiaomi’s annual flagship and it’s quite affordable, on top of everything. The Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of non-expandable native storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, and a 3,350mAh battery is also a part of this package. If you’d like to know more about the Mi 6’s specs, click here.
