Spotify Brings 'Behind The Lyrics' Feature To Android

Spotify has finally brought their Behind The Lyrics feature to Android so users who are streaming music through the service can see the meanings and story behind the lyrics of the songs they love and listen to the most. Behind The lyrics was created for Spotify in partnership with Genius, a service which also has an app on Android as well as a website, and specializes in providing users with the lyrics to their favorite songs. Clicking on any section of the lyrics reveals some more in-depth information on the story behind the words of the song so fans have an idea of what was going on with the artist when it was written, and now Spotify users can get the same treatment.

Although this is just launching on Android now it was a feature that was initially introduced to the iOS version of Spotify back in 2016. Starting from today users of the Spotify Android app will be able to access the Behind The Lyrics feature from two different curated playlists. This includes a Today's Top Hits list, as well as a specially curated list of Hip Hop songs created specifically for Behind The Lyrics called Behind The Lyrics: Hip Hop. In addition to these two playlists the new Khalid album "American Teen" will feature Behind The Lyrics on all songs as well, so the feature seems to be off to a great start.

Spotify doesn't mention when or if they plan to roll out Behind The Lyrics to more playlists or albums, but it's unlikely that they would limit things to just these three sources of music, so chances are more will be added in the future. As stated the feature begins rolling out today but that doesn't necessarily mean that all users will see the feature today. It's entirely possible that it may a take a day or a few for it to reach everyone. It's also not mentioned whether or not this is part of an app update to Spotify or if it's something that Spotify just has to flip the switch on from the server side of things. If you're a Spotify user and you're interested in checking out Behind The Lyrics, simply open the app and go straight to Khalid's new album.
