The Galaxy S8 seems to be having some display and Wi-Fi issues that Samsung is planning to address via an update soon, but those might not be only issues with the company's all-new Galaxy S8 flagships. According to a new report that surfaced, at least some Galaxy S8 units have issues with wireless charging as well. To be more specific, some users are saying that they're unable to charge the Galaxy S8 / Galaxy S8 Plus using Samsung's Fast Charging pad. It seems like Samsung's older charging pads don't seem to be working for them, despite the fact we're talking about the same wireless charging standard here, Qi, so they should work without a problem.
Having that in mind, some users have come across a temporary fix for the problem. Some of them decided to use a non-Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger with the older pads in order to charge the Galaxy S8 / Galaxy S8 Plus at slower speeds. This is not an ideal solution, that's for sure, but it's at least something unless Samsung addresses the issue. That being said, some other users which tried using Samsung's Adaptive Fast Chargers are getting the "wireless charging has been paused" message, which is also quite odd. Now, there are a couple of possible scenarios here, it is possible that we're looking at some sort of a software bug here, a hardware problem (with the Galaxy S8 units) or perhaps Samsung simply decided not to make the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus compatible with their older wireless chargers. Now, the latter option is the most probable one, though we'll need to wait for Samsung to release some sort of an official memo and notify its users what's going on here. Considering how many users are having such issues, Samsung will probably release a statement soon, and most users are probably hoping that this is just a software bug, but we'll see.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are already available in South Korea and the US, as the company released its new flagship smartphones last week. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are amongst the best-looking smartphones out there at the moment, they're made out of metal and glass, and come with extremely thin bezels.
