Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus On T-Mobile Get Early Updates

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus on T-Mobile are already being treated to early updates. The new flagship smartphones received an official release date of April 21 when they were announced, but some people who pre-ordered the devices from the US carrier were fortunate enough to get their hands on them a little sooner than expected. Such early software updates are not altogether unusual, and it’s good to know that any glitches are already being sorted out and further optimizations made.

The updates include security enhancements as well as improvements to the face recognition feature. A further benefit regards some fine-tuning for the camera’s user interface. The software update that T-Mobile is now issuing to the Galaxy S8 brings it to version G950USQU1AQD9 and the larger S8 Plus will arrive at version G955USQU1AQD9. The updates weigh in at 395MB and 392MB respectively and will take approximately 10 minutes to download and install. If you already have one of these T-Mobile Samsung phones firmly in your grip you might want to see if the relevant update has arrived. You can check from the home screen of your device by heading to the ‘Settings’ menu followed by ‘Software Update’ and then ‘Download Updates Manually.’ If the update is ready simply tap ‘OK’ followed by ‘Start’ and you’ll receive a restart message. Before downloading and installing the update you should ensure you have a decent data connection. It’s also a good idea to either plug your phone in before you begin or to ensure that the battery life of your handset is on at least 50%.

If you haven’t already ordered your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus you can do so from all of the main carriers in the US as well as some retail stores including Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Current information from T-Mobile for customers ordering either device online provides an estimated shipping date anywhere from now until April 25th. Both of these high-end smartphones are available from the carrier in the Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, and Midnight Black color options and with 64GB of internal storage. The regular Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch display while the S8 Plus has a larger 6.2-inch display. Both are dust and waterproof to IP68 certification standard.
