Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro Receiving March 2017 Security Patch

Samsung started pushing out the new Android Security Update to some unlocked variants of the Galaxy C9 Pro, The Android Soul reports. The new patch for Samsung's recently released smartphone brings its Security Update version to March 1, 2017, and bears the build number C900FDDU1AQC32. As expected, the package ships with a number of fixes meant to patch certain vulnerabilities of the Android operating system, and also features some minor tweaks and optimizations intended to improve the performance of the handset. Samsung is rolling out the package as an over-the-air (OTA) update that's being released in stages, so it may take a few days before you receive a notification offering you to download the update.

Minor software updates like security patches usually take up to a week to be fully released and your device scans for them periodically. However, if you're feeling impatient, you can try searching for the new software update manually by opening the Settings app of your Galaxy C9 Pro, navigating to the "About device" section, and selecting the "System updates" option. As always, it's recommended you charge your smartphone to at least 50 percent and make sure you have a Wi-Fi connection before attempting to download and install the update.

Originally released in China and Vietnam last November, the Galaxy C9 Pro launched in India in late February, priced at approximately $570. Furthermore, the device might soon be making its way to the United States seeing how it was already certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) back in January, though Samsung may opt to wait with its U.S. release for a few months seeing how the Seoul-based company might want to avoid a scenario in which the Galaxy C9 Pro is competing with the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, Samsung's latest flagship duo that's set to be released on April 21. While it's powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 system-on-chip (SoC), the Galaxy C9 Pro features 6GB of RAM and a spacious 6-inch screen, meaning some Android enthusiasts might see it as a viable alternative to its more expensive siblings. Regardless, more details on future availability of the Galaxy C9 Pro will likely follow shortly.
