When the Samsung Galaxy S8 series was introduced in New York last month, the company announced that the latest flagship phones will be accompanied by a pair of AKG Acoustics earbuds. However, following the smartphone's official unveiling, there have been some reports suggesting the possibility that not every Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus unit out there will receive the AKG Acoustics treatment, and instead, these earbuds could be reserved only for certain markets. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case, according to Samsung's Philip Berne, who confirmed in a recent tweet that the AKG earbuds will be included in every Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus retail package.
Samsung isn't the first smartphone manufacturer to bundle one of its flagship phones with a pair of branded earbuds, but generally speaking, these are rare occurrences and are usually limited depending on region and other factors including increased costs. The 6-years old HTC Sensation XE comes to mind – a device that shipped with regular or Beats Audio headphones in the box. However, the good news for Samsung enthusiasts is that they won't have to worry about limited availability for the high-end earbuds, as recently confirmed in a tweet by Samsung's Marketing Manager, Philip Berne. He also reconfirmed that Samsung does have an early offer which bundles a pair of AKG on-ear headphones with a 256 GB microSD card for $99, but to be clear, this offer is unrelated with the AKG in-ear units included in every Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus package.
As to how Samsung managed to include high-end earbuds as a standard feature in every retail box, to begin with, both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are accompanied by premium prices, ranging from $750 to $850 or higher. But perhaps more importantly, it should be noted that AKG Acoustics' parent company is none other than Harman International Industries, which was acquired several months ago by Samsung Electronics. Having said that, the inclusion of high-end AKG Acoustics earbuds with every Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus purchase may have been possible thanks to Samsung's acquisition.
