The LG G6 will be officially launching in India on Monday, the Seoul-based consumer electronics manufacturer confirmed to a number of media outlets as it started sending invites for its launch event that's scheduled to start on April 24 at 11:30 a.m. local time in New Delhi, the capital of the South Asian country. The Korean tech giant promised to unveil all availability and pricing details about the device on that occasion, but the company might have already been beaten to the punch by Mahesh Telecom, an established Mumbai-based electronics retailer that leaked some information on the matter earlier this week.
According to a representative of Mahesh Telecom, the LG G6 will be priced at between between 53,000 rupees and 54,000 rupees in India, i.e. its price tag will range from approximately $820 to $835. Customers who pre-order the upcoming LG-made smartphone will apparently be eligible for a cashback of up to 7,000 rupees (≈$108) depending on their bank of choice, in addition to receiving a 50-percent discount on the LG Tone Active+ Bluetooth headphones, the source said. While it remains to be seen whether that information holds true or not, the same report stated that pre-orders for the LG G6 will open tomorrow, which likely isn't true in light of the fact that the South Korean phone maker now announced that an official launch event will take place three days later, so consumers probably won't be able to place advanced orders on the handset before Monday. While LG India is already accepting pre-registrations for the device, those applications only guarantee that interested customers will be notified once the company unveils more information about the availability of its latest high-end Android smartphone in India.
The LG G6 was officially announced at the latest iteration of Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this year and was presented as a significant change in LG's design philosophy that led the company to release the modular LG G5 last year. Despite its innovative hardware, the LG G6's predecessors didn't perform in accordance with the firm's expectations, which is why the Seoul-based phone maker now opted to design an entirely different device that it's hoping will grab the attention of consumers in all parts of the world, India included.
