Casio Baby-G BGA-240 Fitness Watch Launches In India

Watch manufacturer Casio on Wednesday launched the Baby-G BGA-240 fitness watch in India, thus expanding its Baby-G lineup in the South Asian country. The wearable was primarily designed to cater to young women who are looking for both a fitness companion and a fashion accessory, the company said while highlighting the numerous variants of the watch that are already available on the market. The Baby-G BGA-240 is being released under Casio's Runners' Collection umbrella and is available in white, black, and bright pink, as well as black and green, though it's unclear whether Casio is planning to expand the number of available colors in the future. All models are priced at 5,995 Indian rupees, which amounts to approximately $93. The watch can be purchased directly from Casio's brick and mortar stores in India, as well as the firm's physical retail and online partners.

The Baby-G BGA-240 ships with an integrated fitness tracker that supports all conventional monitoring functionalities, while both its body and strap are made of durable resin. The watch features standard shock resistance and can be submerged in water by up to 100 meters (328 feet), with its internals being protected by a layer of mineral glass, Casio says. The round dial of the watch sports hour markers that are intended to help runners quickly glance at the time while on the move and the entire package weighs only 41g, while its case is 46.4×42.6×15.3mm in size. Combined with an ergonomic design, wearers should be able to use the Baby-G BGA-240 for prolonged periods without feeling physical discomfort.

The launch of the Baby-G BGA-240 in India marks yet another step in Casio's efforts to expand its presence in the fitness watch market. While the company has been operating in India for over two decades, it wasn't until recently that its global focus started shifting to fitness-oriented products like the one described above. Between this release and the launch of the company's Pro Trek WSD-F20S, Casio will likely be looking to introduce more similar wearables in the future. An update on the firm's product lineup and general operations will likely follow later this year.
